INSPECTOR'S TEST BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Chassis Inspectors Examination is held once annually and is
available only in the United States and neighboring countries. The
exam materials are based on U.S. Federal Regulations and IICL
publications. No preparatory classes or courses are available from
IICL, self-study is required. Both the exam and the manuals for
study are in English only.
The examination consists of 65 multiple choice questions
based on U.S. Department of Transportation regulations governing chassis
inspection and maintenance, and on IICL guides and manuals on chassis
inspection and maintenance.
All candidates who pass the examination receive an IICL certificate and
photo-identification card, and are listed in the IICL Inspection Directory,
which is updated periodically. The Directory also lists companies that
employ IICL-certified inspectors. The Directory is distributed to
major ship lines, leasing companies and others. Certification is valid for
five-year periods.
More than 230 chassis inspectors, in 14 countries, are currently certified by IICL, and more than 145 companies and company branches employ IICL-certified chassis inspector's. |
